The Biotechnical Faculty promotes international cooperation. It is currently very well developed and promotes the faculty's reputation in the world. International partnership is based on cooperation between individual professors and researchers, the exchange of students and professors, and the exchange of scientific publications. In collaboration with international research units, both teaching and research staff are active in international scientific and professional organizations. Bilateral collaboration on the basis of interstate agreements and within the framework of European Union programs is also very extensive.
Researchers from our faculty are partners or coordinators in 19 COST projects, 42 bilateral projects and in 22 other international projects. We are partners in 2 projects of the 6th Framework Program and in 17 projects of the 7th Framework Program.
Participation in the Erasmus Program, which is part of the European Union Lifelong Learning Program, is primarily of high importance for students. Through participation in the Erasmus Program, an undergraduate or postgraduate student can complete some of his/her academic obligations at one of the universities in the European Union with which the Biotechnical Faculty has an agreement. A student spends a period of three months to one year at a chosen faculty, attends study courses there and fulfils certain academic requirements, including exams. The courses that a student is obliged to attend are determined by the professors of the two faculties. The host institution, i.e., the receiving institution, issues a certificate on the obligations fulfilled, and the home institution, i.e., the sending institution, recognises the certificate. Approximately 40 students from the Biotechnical Faculty study abroad each year within the framework of the Erasmus Program. More and more foreign students participate in study programs at the Biotechnical Faculty each year.
In the academic year 2010/2011 we had 57 incoming students (52 on study exchange and 5 on placements). They came on exchange through the different exchange programs (Eramsus, Basileus, CEEPUS, bilateral agreements and even as a freemovers).
