Exhibition: Life in the Hive: A Honey-Sweet Tale of the Šaleška Valley
The Velenje Museum is hosting a temporary exhibition titled "Life in the Hive: The Honey-Sweet Story of the Šaleška Valley" at Velenje Castle, which will run until June 7, 2026.
The exhibition showcases the rich beekeeping heritage and, through various thematic sections, explores the life of bees and the importance of beekeeping in the Šaleška Valley region.
The exhibition is further enriched by the collaboration of the Department of Wood Science and Technology at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, where researchers are using advanced, non-destructive methods to study beehive panels as an important part of Slovenian cultural heritage.
Using modern analytical approaches, such as hyperspectral imaging, micro-XRF analysis, and microscopic techniques, scientists provide insight into the materials, pigments, and state of preservation of these objects, contributing to a better understanding and preservation of them.
