The European Landscape Convention and its three approaches: protection, management and planning.

Landscape inventory and characterisation. Typology and regionalisation. Landscape quality objectives and evaluation.

Landscape protection: landscape as heritage, landscape protection regimes.

Landscape management: guiding activities in the landscape, natural resources management, management of protected areas.

Landscape planning: landscape planning process, attractiveness and vulnerability analyses, balancing conservation and development requirements, planning/optimisation approaches for environmental protection.

Prerequisites

Exchange (Erasmus) students: Landscape Architecture and other planning disciplines.
