You are cordially invited to the summer school "Nature data - from the field to the information system 2025", organised by the Faculty of Biotechnology, University of Ljubljana (Speleobiology Group, Department of Biology) and the Triglav National Park Public Institute.
The Summer School will take place from 16 to 19 September 2025 in the Triglav National Park. Lectures and practical workshops will take place at the TNP Information and Education Centre Dom Trenta.
The starting point will be NarcIS - the Nature Conservation Information System, which was established within the LIFE NarcIS project and is being upgraded within the Slovenian Green Location Framework (SLO4D) project. At the summer school, you will learn all the steps of how to transfer observations from the field into databases and how to make them useful for nature conservation. We will focus on the use of QGIS, with an emphasis on the use of the qNarcIS plugin, and the NarcIS portal. You will learn about the functioning of the Triglav National Park and, through this, the opportunities and challenges facing our protected areas. You will also learn about the activities related to the AlpsLife project. At the summer school, you will hear high-quality lectures by selected experts, experience practical fieldwork and learn how to edit data for uploading to databases.
Participation in the summer school is limited to 15 participants. Masters and PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and interested professionals are welcome.
The major part of the costs related to the Summer School will be covered by the AlpsLife Interreg project. During the summer school, participants will be able to stay in the Trenta House. The accommodation will be partly covered by the AlpsLife project, the other part will be paid by the participants themselves. The contribution per participant for two nights will be around € 50,00.
