Bioscience and Human
Bioscience and Human is a new annual event of the Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana, which will take place the day after the Slovenian Science Day and will focus on the links between science, man and society. This marks the start of a tradition of meeting, thinking and collaborating between researchers, the public, the media and all those who are inspired by - or question - science.
It is an event that will bring bioscience closer to the people and place it in a broader societal context - through stories, questions and decisions that affect us all - opening up laboratories, presenting scientific facts and new findings, and stimulating reflection on the role of science in times of great social and environmental change.
Why Bioscience and Human?
Because science does not exist in a vacuum. Because behind every research insight there is a human being - and every scientific achievement has an impact on people, nature, the environment and society.
Bioscience and Man will be a platform for dialogue. A stage for researchers to tell their stories, for the media to ask questions, and for the public to get a glimpse of what often goes on hidden - in laboratories, in scientific papers, at conferences.
It will be an event that gives science a voice, that is open, that is inclusive. Science will no longer be just a result - it will also become a story, a question, a conversation.
Connecting, understanding, trusting
Each year, the event will highlight a different central theme that raises topical questions about the role of science in the modern world. This year's theme is entitled: "Who do we (still) trust? At a time when the public is facing information overload and when scientific literacy is becoming more important than ever, we want to stress that trust in science can only be built through openness, ethics and good communication.

Programme
- The main part
o Opening with speeches
o Keynote lectures - 4 speakers from science, innovation, artificial intelligence and communication
o panel discussion Science in a bubble - how to communicate scientific facts in a world of likes and AI?
o Science Slam: presentations by young researchers
- Social part: Martin's evening of bioscience: In scientia veritas
o Keynote address
o Sommelier lecture and standing wine experience: wine as science, story and sensation
o networking, feasting and poetry
The event connects science and society - symbolically and contextually. It addresses the pressing issues of our time and encourages researchers to become storytellers too, not just knowledge creators.
Everyone interested in science, society and the future - intertwined with truth, doubt and new technologies - is invited!
Because science is not out there somewhere. It's here - on your plate, in your pocket, among us.
