HOTEL FOR RESIDENTS

Gift from the Botanical Garden "Jevremovac" from Belgrade 

When the "Hotel for Wild Pollinators" was opened on 31 October 2023 at the Botanical Garden "Jevremovac" in Belgrade, the Serbian Embassy in Ljubljana immediately contacted the Faculty of Biology in Belgrade and the authors of the Hotel for Wild Pollinators, where pollinators can find a new home.

In cooperation with the Botanical Garden of the University of Ljubljana, it was proposed to establish the same "Pollinator Hotel" in Ljubljana. Funding for the construction of the "Hotel" then had to be found. The MK Grup Foundation (Miodrag Kostić Group Foundation) kindly accepted to fund the project and in autumn 2024 the construction of the same "Hotel" for the needs of the Botanical Garden of the University of Ljubljana started.

The "Pollinator Hotel" arrived at the University of Ljubljana Botanical Garden in early June. It was erected in a symbolic place, not far from the administration building, in the shade of the Pančić spruces.

As it is a protected patent of the Belgrade Botanic Garden, it has to be said that the "Hotel for Pollinators" is identical to the last millimetre to the one installed in Belgrade.

The opening of the "Hotel for Pollinators" will take place on Friday, 19 September 2025, at 12 noon at the Botanical Garden of the University of Ljubljana, Ižanska cesta 15.
