BIOTECHNOLOGY DAY 2025

Biotechnology's responsibility towards society and the planet Wednesday 15 October 2025, Prof. Dr. Janez Hribar Hall

Biotechnology Day is a day-long event where students have the opportunity to learn about the ways in which biotechnology is changing, or has already changed, the world through presentations by researchers and companies. The aim of the event is to inspire undergraduates to study, and to help undergraduates to find the "niche" of an otherwise highly interdisciplinary science that they are particularly interested in.

For the third year running, the Biotechnology Student Association, in cooperation with the College of Biotechnology Studies, is organising Biotechnology Day, which this year has a special title: Biotechnology's Responsibility towards Society and the Planet. This time, the organisers want to showcase the areas in which biotechnology is actively solving the world's biggest and local problems, and at the same time touch upon the great responsibility that comes with leaps and bounds in many areas of the life sciencesThis year, the event will take place on Wednesday, 15 October 2025 in the Prof. Dr. Janez Hribar Hall at the Dean's Office, starting at 10:00 am.The event will be held in the Dean's Office on the following day.

This will be followed by a longer lecture and then another set of shorter lectures on bioinformatics. As always, the afternoon part of the event will be dedicated to biotechnology companies, this time we will have four of them. As always, we will be adding a raffle to the event, and we are already inviting you to take part, as there will be several exciting prizes this year. The day will then be rounded off with a panel discussion entitled "Biotechnology's responsibility to society and the planet". This year's guests will present and discuss different areas and perspectives on advances in biotechnology and other sciences. To round off the biotechnology-focused day, you are now invited to a final networking event and a relaxed chat with alumni and other guests at the event.

Welcome to Biotechnology Day 2025!
