Biotechnical faculty UL at the UNI-SI Slovenian University Festival 2026
In January 2026, the UNI-SI Slovenian University Festival will be held for the first time at the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Center. This new trade fair-style event will bring together presentations from all faculties of eight Slovenian universities in one place. The event offers a comprehensive insight into study programs, enrollment procedures, and various study paths, and enables direct contact with university staff and students.
The festival will take place on Friday, January 16, and Saturday, January 17, 2026, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., and admission will be free. The event is held under the honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar.
Visitors will also be able to learn about universities and study programs by broader subject areas, marked with different colors and symbols, which will make it easier to navigate and choose according to personal interests, desires, and goals.
Interactive presentation of the Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana
UL BF will present itself at the festival with a distinctly experiential and interactive approach that will bring visitors closer to natural sciences, biotechnology, and biosciences in practice.
At the faculty's exhibition space, visitors will be able to:
learn how ice cream is made using liquid nitrogen (in collaboration with the Department of Food Science), see a hydroponic system as an example of modern approaches to plant production (in collaboration with the Department of Agronomy), observe live plant cultures in test tubes prepared by biotechnology students, explore exhibition and promotional material from other departments, including fungi in special cultivation pots. In addition to the exhibition space, the Faculty of Biotechnology will also actively participate in the Interactive Hall "New Knowledge for New Generations," where the following departments will present their study content and research areas: Department of Forestry, Department of Animal Science, Department of Microbiology.
The event is intended for high school students who are deciding on further studies, their parents and advisors, as well as anyone who is considering studying in the future and is looking for a new career or educational direction.
