Fascination of Plants Day 2026

WHAT?
For one day, the Biological Centre in Ljubljana will transform into a vibrant space of discovery, experiments and creativity dedicated to the fascinating world of plants. Fascination of Plants Day 2026 will offer more than 40 free workshops, presentations and interactive activities exploring the hidden lives of plants, their role in the environment and their importance for people and the future of our planet.

Visitors will be able to observe plants under microscopes, explore photosynthesis, wetlands and plant scents, discover cacti, succulents, invasive species, seeds, wood and tropical rainforests, and learn about biology, agronomy, forestry, ecology, landscape architecture and nature conservation in an engaging and hands-on way. The programme will also include creative workshops for children, interactive experiments, mini ecosystems, taste-testing activities and a screening of an award-winning documentary film about Costa Rica.

The event is organised by numerous research, educational and museum institutions, including the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, the National Institute of Biology, the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia, the Slovenian Museum of Natural History, the Faculty of Education UL and other partner organisations.

The event is intended for children, families, school groups, students and all nature enthusiasts.
