Connecting Knowledge, Research and Agricultural Practice: Introducing AKIS

The Department of Agronomy at the University of Ljubljana’s Biotechnical Faculty, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, is organising a presentation of the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS) and its related activities and support mechanisms. The event will take place on Friday, 9 October 2026, at 9:00 in Lecture Room A4.

How can research and educational institutions contribute to knowledge transfer and innovation in agriculture? The event will explore current opportunities to connect teaching, research and professional expertise with practice. Participants will learn about the various components of AKIS, the concept of demonstration farms and the Knowledge Portal.

Provisional programme

  • 9:00–9:30 | Introduction to AKIS and its components
    The Innovation Support Network, modernAKIS, AKIS interventions, public services providing specialist agricultural support, agricultural education and research.

  • 9:30–10:00 | Presentation of the demonstration farm concept

  • 10:00–10:15 | Presentation of the Knowledge Portal

  • 10:15–10:30 | Discussion

The presentations will be delivered by ministry representatives Ana Drnovšek, Jožica Jerman Cvelbar and Matej Štepec.

Staff and students, particularly those in the later years of their studies, are warmly invited to attend and explore opportunities for knowledge transfer, innovation and connecting research with agricultural practice.
