The research equipment is intended for studying the structural properties of wood, wood composites, and other biological materials. The equipment enables precise analysis of internal structural changes and material degradation using X‑ray technology. It is a modular system that provides insight into the density profile of materials, making it possible to obtain information on water distribution, material structure, and mechanical changes that occur under load. The system allows accurate 2D and 3D examinations of materials with the help of advanced X‑ray detectors and software that includes data analysis and computed tomography capabilities. The equipment enables the analysis of samples up to (300 × 300 × 300) mm in size and weighing up to 25 kg, with a scanning accuracy of up to 0.1 mm.

The research equipment is available in the Laboratory for Wood Drying and Hydrothermal Treatment at the Department of Wood Science and Technology, Rožna dolina cesta VIII/34 (Department of Wood Science), and can be used by prior arrangement.
Purpose
The research equipment is intended for the analysis of macroscopic objects using X‑rays and for the visualization of their structure through computed tomography.
