Content (Syllabus outline)

Introduction to microbiology, short overview of the history of major discoveries in microbiology, basic classification of microorganisms, structure of microbial cell, basics in microbial metabolism, microbial growth and growth media, sterilisation, aseptic technique, isolation of bacteria from environmental samples, storage of microorganisms,  basic information on  microbial diversity , influence of physicochemical parameters on microbial growth, introduction to pathogens, introduction to gene structure, transcription, translation and replication in E. coli.

Enrollment in the Biotechnology program (BSc).
