Content (Syllabus outline)

Introduction to microbiology, morphology and physiology of major groups of microorganisms (bacteria, archaea, fungi, algae, viruses), metabolism and nutrition of microorganisms (phototrophy, chemolithotrophy, fermentation, aerobic and anaerobic respiration, methanogenesis, methylotrophy), growth of microorganisms and their control, microorganisms and biogeochemical cycling of elements (carbon, nitrogen sulfur), introduction to microbial biodegradation and biodeterioration, introduction to industrial and food microbiology.

Prerequisites

Conditions for inclusion in the work:

Enrolment in the appropriate academic year.


Conditions for performing study obligations

Attendance at laboratory exercises is obligatory. A passing examination in laboratory exercises is a prerequisite for access to the exam.
