Content (Syllabus outline)

Cell biology: Biology is the science of life; basic properties of living systems;. structure and function of eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells; cell membranes and transport; intracellular compartments; energy metabolism; basics of molecular biology; cell reproduction; cytoskeleton and cellular interactions;  structure and function of tissues.

Structure and diversity of animals: Morphology and physiology of different organ systems in animals with emphasis on model organisms; reproduction and development; interactions between animals and their environment; environmental changes and ecosystem, community and population.

Structure and diversity of plants:

Morphological and physiological characteristics of basic functional plant systems (cell, tissue, organ); basic principles of plant growth (primary and secondary) and development (vegetative and reproductive phase), with emphasis on nutritional applicability.

Prerequisites

Inscription to adequate academic year.

 

Prerequisite for exam and practical examination is minimal 80 % presence at practical course.
