Content (Syllabus outline)
The Physical Education course includes:
The general theoretical part:
- introduction and the definition of the subject (content and organisation),
- the significance and role of Physical Education as a value contributing to the quality of life at university and in one’s professional life,
- the effects of physical activity on total physical, mental, and social health of the students,
- physical activity as a preventive, corrective, and promotional activity for health maintenance,
- a physically active way of life as a guideline for a healthy lifestyle.
The special theoretical part:
- in connection with a selected sport, its peculiarities, its effect on people, technique, tactics and rules, basic physical, technical and tactical preparations.
Practical work:
- students choose among the offered sports. For each sport, the programme includes learning, improvement of knowledge, and basic training.
In addition to the selected sport, students will have to do two guided one-day hikes to medium-height mountains as well as pass an aerobic fitness test (Cooper Test).
Prerequisites
Prerequisites for course work:
- Enrolment into a corresponding academic year.
- Health condition allowing the required physical strain.
- A suitable level of knowledge of a selected sport necessary for the involvement in the competitive programme.
Prerequisites for examinations and other obligations:
- 75% attendance at tutorials
