Content (Syllabus outline)

  • Application of non-woody materials in wooden products and for surface coating – introduction;
  • polymers – basic introduction to their composition, structure and properties and a review of the most important polymers for applications in wood adhesives and coatings;
  • glasses and their properties, especially with respect to their utilisation in joinery and in   furniture;
  • metals and their properties with a focus on their applications in the products of furniture industry;
  • overview of thermally and acoustically insulating materials;
  • materials for upholstered furniture: materials for surfaces of upholstered furniture (textile - fabrics, leather), upholstering materials, framework materials, auxiliary materials
