Content (Syllabus outline)

Soil and landuse. Soil degradation processes with focus on soil sealing. Pedogeographic factors of spontaneous forestation. Legislation on the field of soil protection.

Different approaches in soil classification: Slovenian national classification, World Reference Base (WRB/FAO) and basis of Soil Taxonomy (ZDA).

Soil survey and soil mapping: scales, techniques and tools. Geographic data and maps of Slovenia: topographic, geological and pedological. Soil information system. Soil cronosequences and catenas. Soil and landscape in Slovenia.

Soil evaluation systems, soil suitability and soil vulnerability. Soil evaluation in Slovenia. New approaches in soil evaluation decision support systems for land use planning with focus on agricultural soil protection.

Soil pollution and land use planning.

The emphasis is on independent project work.

Prerequisites

Conditions for inclusion in the work:

Enrolment in the appropriate academic year. Knowledge of the subject Soil science.

 

Conditions for performing study obligations

Participation at tutorials and seminars is obligatory.

Project work and its presentation are assessed.
