Foundametals of environmental monitoring:

  • types of environmental monitorings, methods, quality data control
  • methods of data aqusition
  • statistics in environmental monitoring, remote datacollecting and GIS in environmental monitoring

Monitoring of air quality

  • quality parametrs of outdoor air and monitoring of air pollution: tropospheric ozone, N and S pollutants, metals, dust particles (PM 10)

Biomonitoring

  • concepts  and challenges
  • cases of biomonitoring with higher plants, lichens and mosses in EU and Slovenia

Monitoring of nature

  • monitoring of plant and animal populations
  • monitoring of plant communities (associations)
  • habiat monitoirng

Monitoring of soil and water quality

  • basic legislation, concepts, indicators, state
  •  presentation and commnents on acquired data in Slovenia

Monitoring of soil and water polluters

  • operational monitorings and cleaning devices, wastes depositsmonitoring
  • operational monitoring in agriculture
  • legislation, limitations and feasibility

Further use of monitoring data

  • activities within  ICP- Mapping and moddeling (CLRTAP, WGE), critical loads and exceedences of pollutants in target ecosystems

dynamic modells and  for vulneraribility assessments of environments, elaboration of scenaria for pullutants impats assessments

Prerequisites

Conditions for inclusion in the work:

Enrolment in the appropriate academic year.

 

Conditions for performing study obligations

Attendance at seminar and field work is compulsory. Student has to prepare and present a seminar on selected topic.
