  • The definition of an innovative approach to product development: creative methods, critical assessment of ideas.
  • The meaning of patents and innovations.  Intellectual property protection
  • The history of design and construction of furniture through time, the principles and work of leading industrial designers, multifunctional furniture and examples of constructional implementations, built-in furniture, use of other materials and new technologies in the furniture industry.
  • Innovative furniture components
  • Wood in construction and engineering wooden constructions, innovative constructions, materials and elements
  • Technical regulations and Eurocode 5 standards
  • Basic principles of energy-efficient building design
  • Selected topics from the field of composite structures in combination of timber
  • Project assignment
  • Testing of own constructional solutions through prototype testing
  • Strengthening of the abilities for analysis and planning with respect to ergonomic, production, environmental and economic requirements

Prerequisites

1. Prerequisites for the work:

Entry in the corresponding year of the study programme.

2. Terms of prerequisites:

-   attendance at tutorials

-   conducted a seminar/project

-   colloquium from tutorials. Prerequisite to attend the colloquium is 80% attendance at laboratory exercises.

-           Prerequisite to access the examination is a positive assessment of lab. work.
