Content (Syllabus outline)

Plant pests of field and fodder crops with special emphasis on insects (Insecta). Basic information on mites (Acarina), nematodes (Nematoda), snails and slugs (Gastropoda), birds (Aves), rodents (Rodentia) and other mammals (Mammalia). Presentation of the pests regarding the groups of the host plants (cereals: wheat, barley, oat, rye; root crops: potato, maize, beet, bean, pea, carrot; industrial crops: hop, oilseed rape, sunflower; field vegetables: brassicas, cucurbits and cucumbers; field fodder plants: clovers, alfalfa, stored products pests.
Plant diseases agents of field and fodder crops. Phytopathogenic fungi, bacteria, viruses, viroids, parasitic flowering plants. Presentation of the diseases agents regarding the groups of the host plants (see Plant pests).
Description and bionomics/biology of harmful organisms. Symptoms caused by phytopathogenic harmful organisms. Potential and actual noxiousness of harmful organisms in Slovenian growing areas. Chemical, integrated and biological control of pests and diseases of field and fodder crops. Forecasting the occurrence of economically important harmful organisms (Colorado potato beetle, potato late blight, Cercospora disease etc.) with the emphasis on field diagnostics.

Conditions for inclusion in the work:

Enrolment in the appropriate academic year.

 

Condition for performing study obligations   Condition for written examination from practicals is attendance at practicals (75 %)

Condition for written exam is passed preliminary examination.
