Content (Syllabus outline)

Economically significant pests and diseases are discussed in view of taxonomy of their host plants and their organs (roots, stem/trunk, leaves, flowers, fruits/crops, seeds) on pome fruits - apple and pear trees; stone fruits – peach, apricot, plum, cherry, sour cherry trees; nuts – hazel nut, walnut; small fruits – strawberry, currant, raspberry, elder; mediterranean plants - olive, fig, citrus, kiwi, persimmon; grapevine; cole, fruits, leafy, legumes, bulbs and roots crops; aromatic plants, fungus, ornamental annuals and perennials. Description of invasive pests and diseases, their bionomics/biology and damage they  caused on host plants. Pest/pathogen control with emphasis on environmentally friendly control. Methods of direct and indirect forecast of outbreaks of important pests/pathogens (grapevine downy mildew, apple scab, codling moth, soil pests etc.).

Conditions for inclusion in the work:

Enrolment in the appropriate academic year.

 

Condition for performing study obligations   Condition for written examination from practicals is attendance at practicals (75 %)

Condition for written exam is passed preliminary examination.
