Content (Syllabus outline)

Introduction: The diversity of the living world, in particular animals; phylogenetic position of the animals and the phylogenetic relationships within Animalia, systematics and taxonomy, taxonomic categories, nomenclature, methods of phylogenetic research, species and diversity of animal systems, the importance of biological taxonomy, the diversity of invertebrate fauna in Slovenia.
Description of all phylla and important classes of invertebrates, as well as some orda or lower taxonomic groups as representatives. Structuring:
- a short definition of each group,
- phylogenetic position and relations within the group,
- detailed description of morphological and anatomical features,
- biological particularities,
- ecological definition of the group
- the economic importance
- the distribution and diversity of the taxon in Slovenia.
Lower taxonomic groups will be presented primarily in terms of specificity and diversity of the fauna in Slovenia.
