Content (Syllabus outline)

Criteria definition of turfgrass for ornamental, recreational and sport purposes, soil and climate factors for succesfull development and growth of sward according to specific conditions for usage of individual species of grasses in Slovenia; measures for soil preparation as regards the layer quality and selections of procedures for forming sward of new lawns; species and variety selection of grasses and preparation of suitable seed mixture for creating new turf adapted to purposes for lawn use; seeding rate and what influence on selection of seeding timing; carpet grass, beginning, frequency and cutting height for newly formed turfgrass for different usage; necessary services before and after excessive usage (loading) of lawn for different events in unfavourable soil and weather conditions; plant protection against diseases and pests (biological control); fertilization and irrigation of turfgrasses, measures for soil areation and infiltration of upper layer of soil, lawn rolling for uniform soil density and improvement of quality parametrs for sport purposes of lawn usage; methods in evaluation of sward quality of turfgrass and grading damages due to over excessive lawn usage; sward renovation with over- and strip seeding of grass seed directly into the sward; morphological and physiological characteristics of grass species for the purpose of lawn formation for recreational purposes; formation of ornamental garned lawn; specific requests for turfgrass maintenance for different sport activities (football, golf, tennis, cricket).
