Content (Syllabus outline)

General characteristics of woodworking machines with an emphasis on technology platforms and the role of the technologist in the development and selection of woodworking machines. Structural and functional characteristics of the basic hardware components of woodworking machines, removable and Inseparable joints, axles and shafts, connecting element shaft and hub design, friction axel and hubs, shafts and axles, springs, bearings and guides, clutch, coil sliding and rolling gear to transfer rotational motion in a straight line. Structural and functional characteristics of drivers for the transfer of rotational motion such as belt drives, chain drives, gear drives and friction drives. Components of hydrostatic and pneumatic equipment and systems; pumps, cylinders, valves, flow and pressure control valves, servo-valves. Machining as a process of machine loading. Load machine. Structural and functional characteristics of the panel sawing machines. Circular, band and frame sawing machines. Functional and structural features characteristic milling and routing machines for processing wood and wood composites. Jointing and surfacing (thickness planning) machines. Various milling machines, table and table top milling machines, copy milling machines. Functional and structural characteristics of wood processing machinery by drilling. Functional and structural characteristics of wood processing machinery grinding. Characteristics of wood sanding machinery. Functional and structural features of presses and machinery for the mechanical shaping of wood products.
