Content (Syllabus outline)

Space forms at different stages of urbanisation: significant urban forms according to land use with the stress on neighbourhoods. Suburban and contemporary periurban spacial forms. Definition of the idea of urbanisation and cultural development. Reading of urban morfology as an issue for urban design. Critical consideration of urban theory from modernism, postmodernism to contemporary trends in designing urban space. The role of participation of the public. Analitical methodology of urban design and prediction of development of an urban space. Causes and effects of urban problems and »cancer« nature of some dominant urban (and urbanistic) problems. Diferentiation between planning process and an urban project as a product of the process, developing of a project through data and organisation. Influence of the estate market and short-term economic interests on an urban development. Planning and designing of neighbourhoods, central districts, industrial zones, traffic systems, recreational and other districts. Coordination of different professions /professionals. Theory and praxis of neighbourhoods, land use, and critical approach to zoning / »antizoning«.

Principles and praxis of land use planning in the process of urban design with consideration of landscape and urban morfology, of climate and other natural systems. Problems of energetic, traffic, and other infrastructure. Law and organisation of the governement. Typology of urban projects, organisation and the implementation strategies of the projects. Typology of buildings and urban spaces. Architectural composition and methodology of urban design. Critical consideration of urban solutions, proposals of improvements, renovations, and reconstructions of urban spaces.

Prerequisites

a) enrollment in the year,
b) the condition for taking the oral examination is the passed and positively assessed seminar work.
