Content (Syllabus outline)

Organisms constitute an essential tool for the biology teacher. Through experiential learning and inquiry pupils can obtain high-quality and useful knowledge.
Students learn about field methods of collecting and trapping organisms. Through practical work in the vivarium they learn about the rearing of organisms that they will as future teachers use in biology instruction. Students learn to handle organisms and get to know the minimum conditions they need to provide certain types of organisms.
Students learn about current legislation in the field of nature conservation and the conditions which they must be provide to the organisms in captivity.
They conduct the project work, which relates to a particular type of organism.
Students learn how to involve pupils in project work and inquiry that includes school vivarium.

When working with organisms we are considering fundamental ethical criteria.

Prerequisites

Enrolment in first or second academic year.
