Chair of Silviculture

The Department of Silviculture offers three basic courses: Silviculture, Forest Phytocoenology and Dendrology with Forest Tree Breeding. The main goals of the department are undergraduate and postgraduate education, scientific research work and professional consultancy.

The main areas in which our colleagues work are:

  • study of morphological, horological, ecological and physiological characteristics of woody plants and the basics of forest seed production and tree breeding,
  • study of forest soils and phytocenoses and their role in forest ecosystems, application of phytocoenological findings,
  • study of the dependence between forest sites, stands, ecological factors, social environment and cultivation management,
  • study of the transfer of cultivation models to comparable conditions and
  • development of silviculture plans, conversion plans and forest rehabilitation plans.
