The educational activities of the department are quite interdisciplinary as students acquire knowledge in the field of: Woodworking machinery, tools, processing technologies, mechanics, flexible automation, processing of wood residues, biomass and biomass fuels. We present as much content as possible to students in the laboratory using modern equipment (robots, CNC machine, material fatigue tests, speed camera, numerical analysis and simulations,....), so that students gain some practical experience during school. Scientific research is closely related to educational activities. In its research work, the department participates in basic research projects, and we especially like to participate in applied research, where the results of research and development are transferred and used in practice. For its work, the research group received a special award from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia for the development and innovation cooperation of business and knowledge institutions. The department also shows its interdisciplinarity in active cooperation with the Faculty Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, as it is involved in the program group Development Evaluations. All findings and research results are published in scientific research publications, at the same time students are informed about the research results.
