BENEFITS FOR UL CORRESPONDING AUTHORS WHEN PUBLISHING OPEN ACCESS ARTICLES, ACCEPTED FOR PUBLICATION IN 2026

Authors must manage copyrights with the use of appropriate licenses:

  • for peer-reviewed articles with either Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) or Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0) licenses,
  • for longer texts (monographs) with licenses that restrict further commercial use or adaptation of the work (CC BY-NC 4.0 or CC BY-ND 4.0).

When using vouchers, it is important that authors use the correct affiliation:

The Senate of the University of Ljubljana, at its 11th session, 23 November 2018, adopted a External link to resolution Open in new windowthat all publications must first state the name of the University of Ljubljana, then the member, and finally the member's internal organization (department, chair, etc.).

Using APC vouchers

The corresponding author from UL (a university teacher or associate, researcher, or doctoral student) submits the manuscript of the article to the publisher’s system.

When the article is accepted for publication, the UL corresponding author selects the UL member institution from the list of organization codes in the publisher’s system. The publisher’s system then recognizes the author as eligible to use the APC voucher. The corresponding author also selects the CC BY 4.0 license.

The publisher’s system sends an email to the UL contact person, who verifies and confirms the eligibility to use the APC voucher.

The UL corresponding author then receives an email from the publisher’s system confirming that the article will be published as an open access article. This completes the APC voucher redemption process.

Explanation

Corresponding author

Corresponding author for the article on behalf of all co‑authors.
Publishers assess eligibility for the use of APC vouchers or discounts based on the stated UL member institution and the domain of the corresponding author’s email address. Therefore, corresponding authors from UL should:

  • Indicate the UL member institution and the email address first.last@member.uni-lj.si in the article;
  • Register in the publisher’s information system using this email address;
  • In the forms completed after the article has been accepted for publication, select Gold Open Access and the UL member institution or UL; the publisher’s system should then display information on eligibility for the benefits (i.e. eligibility to use an APC voucher, resulting in an APC price of EUR 0.00, or the applicable discount rate on the APC fee).
